Dora told us that she resides in Lancaster, CA wither her husband who got her into lowriding. Her husband has a 65’ Impala and a 48’ Fleetline. She states that she would always support him, but never dreamed of having her own lowrider and being part of a lowrider car club.  About 2 years ago Dora came across a video of Sandy Avila, “She blew my mind, and she still does. I honestly have never seen a woman hit those hydro’s as good as she does” stated Dora. “Sandy inspired me to get my own car”. Dora got her own lowrider in May of last year and started work, first cutting it out for the hydraulics, then got it primered. Dora told us that she still has a lot to learn but it’s all a process. Dora joined Van Nuys Cruisers Car Club, soon after getting her car.  So, what does a desert rose symbolize? A Desert Rose is a flower of prosperity, since the desert rose plant is strong and adaptable to harsh climatic conditions, it is a symbol of strength, persistence and resilience.  Dora has symbolized a Desert Rose. In less than one year, with her persistence and strong will, she continued to work on her car while enduring the strong elements of the pandemic society endured. Throughout the year, she has met so may amazing women, including Sandy, Gladys Alfaro, Angelia Renteria and myself. Dora states “us ladies are the reasons we have all come together, we are able to show each other nothing but love and support’. So, remember “A flower blooming in the desert proves to the world that adversity, no matter how great, can be overcome.” If you get a chance to meet Dora, her positive energy will resonate towards you. We are excited to see Dora's dream come to reality and are proud of her accomplishments.
